The industrial EasyCoder® PM-4i is designed to excel in demanding applications and environments. Utilizing the latest technology, the PM-4i features a strong and proven mechanical platform, and powerful newly developed electronics. It is the first label printer to offer integrated serial, USB and EasyLAN® Ethernet interfaces as standard equipment. Optional interfaces include parallel, double serial and industrial and EasyLAN Wireless. The EasyLAN Wireless interface uses an integrated standard 802.11b radio, providing 128-bit WEP encryption. The PM-4i can operate as a "client" eliminating the PC from the application. Additionally, the PM-4i can be used to run peripheral devices such as scanners, weight scales and other printers.

On the desktop we have seen the migration from "green screen" business applications to client-server and now a hybrid of the two — browser-based interfaces. In large mission-critical business deployments these server centric solutions have been favored by the short-handed IT departments that support them.
