Material Tracking

Many companies handle time or temperature sensitive materials on very inflexible timelines. One particular project called for the automation of a very manually intensive operation for the tracking of time and temperature sensitive materials from receiving through manufacturing. Success was accomplished through the careful integration of bar code, automated data collection, web and wireless technologies.

Our Solution

1. Wireless handheld computers are used to query work order and product data from the ERP system to produce bar coded material labels.
2. Our software sends the data to the Loftware LPS which processes it and sends output to the printer in the proper label format.
3. Wireless handhelds are used to scan the bar code label as the materials move around the plant and in and out of the freezer.
4. The web application is used for administration, to maintain specifications on the materials and to report on status of materials.

• Replaces manual paper based 'traveler' with electronic system using bar codes and real time wireless data collection
• Provides a mechanism to create and print bar code labels on demand from wireless handhelds or a web-based application
• Automates data collection by scanning bar codes as material moves in and out of freezers and through production
